What
is Cell art space?
Cell art space is a contemporary art exhibition venue located seconds
away from Cairns inner city mall. Every
week thousands of regional residents, national and international
visitors view the space due to its central, street-front location.
Located in the
Ergon Energy building, the space is a large glass enclosed display
area (approx 5m x 3m) that has been converted into a ‘view
only’ installation venue fronting onto the Lake Street footpath
directly in front of Cairns city main taxi rank.
Artists are
encouraged to explore the site to its full potential. Applications
are welcome from individuals, groups, artists and curators.
Cell
art space aim
Cell art space is an artist-run initiative, managed on a voluntary
not-for-profit basis in the spirit of community cultural development.
We aim to encourage and support the diverse art practices of all
artists, whatever age and/or background.
Susan Reid is the Founding Director of Cell art space. Cell art space
was established in February 2003 with the support of our major sponsor
Ergon Energy.
